Free Ways To Market Your Service Business
Can a business use only free ways to market their business, or does everything have to cost? Well, the good news is that there are all sorts of free ways to market a business, the bad news (possibly) is that they will always talk longer to achieve success than the ones which require some financial investment.
Here are some free ways to market your business
1. Ask Your Existing Clients This Question
“Is there anything else I can help you with?”
Or this question:
“Is there anything else I can help you or a friend or family member with?”
Clients who already know, like and trust you are much more likely to use you again for a different service, or recommend you to one of their friends or family members.
Whilst most small business owners chase the bright lights of brand new clients, winning more work from existing clients should be the first place to start.
2. Are You Emailing Your Clients And Prospects Regularly?
Do you send a short, informative, interesting weekly or monthly (minimum) email to all of your clients or prospects? If not, why not?
It is second on my list because it is practically a free way to market your business. I say ‘practically’, because if you are doing this well you need some email software, but this is achievable for less than £20 per month, so it is as close to free as you will find when it comes to marketing your business, and one of the most effective methods of marketing available.
3. Get Out And About!
Go to some of the networking events around you, not to look eagerly for work, but to meet people and learn how they win their business. Networking should not be a pushy sales experience (if you find yourself at a BNI event and you find that method too pushy, try a different networking group or environment until you find one that you are comfortable in. BNI is probably the best known networking group, and I know people who love it, whilst others simply don’t get on with it, so shop around).
The point is to take genuine interest in people, find out all about their business, and in time you will develop relationships that work for you both.
4. Blog!
Write a daily blog. If you are reading this free marketing tips guide, it is because you have time on your hands. The best place to be found bar none is online. Nothing beats it. Why? Because a person finds you when they are motivated the find a provider of the service which you provide. You cannot get any better than online marketing, and having spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on marketing over the years I can assure you that this is true.
So if you have time on your hands, and you are looking for free ways to market your business, blogging is a great place to start.
Write one blog post a day for the next year and I guarantee several things:
- You will become a much better writer;
- You will attract more visitors to your website; and
- You will win clients from your website!
